Rafting is relatively new but is already gaining popularity as a type of extreme tourism in Armenia. It is an outdoor activity during which a team of 6 or more rafters overcomes the obstacles in a water stream or river, with high adrenaline produced in their body, ensuring excitement and ‘wet’ memories by the end of the day. The main rivers used for rafting in Armenia are Dzoraget, Debed, and Tartar.
The best season for rafting in Armenia is from April to the end of June. Rafting is also possible in the cold season with a hydro-resistant outfit and winter-rafts. The latter have special paddles that are used to move and control the direction, and at the same time, several groups can race together on the river. Hence, competition in this activity is not mandatory. Many people do rafting to become more energized and happier. Some professionals think that it can also have a very positive effect on your health. They insist on the fact that rafting is a very good choice to lose weight, train your muscles, and be closer to nature while having fun. It is highly recommended to do it with professionals and in calm places. Gradually, as you become more experienced, you can try to do it in mountainous and dangerous places again, not forgetting about safety. Never take a risk if you are not sure that you can cope with the obstacles. Don’t forget to wear the appropriate uniform, and be sure you have alternative clothing. Rafting in Armenia guarantees a lot of adrenaline and incredible adventures!
